Why teach music wellness classes as a music therapist?

by Sally Bonkrude MA, LPC, MT-BC

Wellness classes are a non-threatening way to introduce and educate the general public on how music therapy works. And, if you want to fill your private music therapy practice with clients, teaching wellness classes is a great way to get the word out.  Your community gets to know you and receive value from the knowledge you share in your wellness classes.  Your classes may be short term or long term and cover anything from working with depression, to helping parents to kids and teens, plus  support groups of all kinds.  Every class is an opportunity to let people get to know you, what you do and how music helps.  Give it a try!
