Course Description
Based on the approach of clinical psychologist, Jed Baker Ph.D., Jeffrey Friedberg MT-BC, LCAT, has developed an approach to using music to help chidlren learn social skills.
Participants will review 16 songs composed by Dr. Baker and Jeffrey Friedberg that teach social skills in small component parts. These songs will provide the foundation for assessing, planning and implementing social skills lessons. Participants will learn how to develop their own approach using these songs as a springboard.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will demonstrate 2 techniques in which to assess social skills
Participants will be able to interpret 3 short descriptions of behavior into social skills strengths and challenges
Participants will be able to formulate social skills goals and objectives for 3 cases based on provided descriptions and analysis
Participants will document 10 social skills training activities using music therapy
