The importance of music for wellness is growing. Who better than music therapists to launch a music wellness program for your community. In this class you will assess your skill sets and decide on your music wellness class niche. You will come away with the latest research to support the importance of your class to the community, and develop your goals and objectives all of which will be used to begin the process of marketing your class. Sign up to join a team on the move to growing music wellness programs, lead by actual therapists world wide.
1. Identify the four key factors of how music affects cognition, based on Dale B. Taylor’, Ph.D., MT-BC book: Biomedical Foundations of Music as Therapy.
2. Assess your skill set and experience, and decide on the type of classes and age group you would like to facilitate in your community.
3. Create 2 goals and objectives that could be used in designing this wellness class.
4. Name 3 ways to educate your community on the value of music as therapy and wellness.
II D 10 Design experiences to generalize goals and objectives across settings, people, subjects, behaviors, or time.
VA9 Maintain professional and effective working relationships with colleagues and community members.
VA16 Conduct information sharing sessions (e.g., in-service
workshops) for professionals and/or the community.
VA18 Serve as a representative, spokesperson, ambassador, or advocate for the profession of music therapy.
