The voice is a complex and uniquely personal instrument that can be an important tool in music therapy. Due to the personal nature of the voice, many people carry insecurities around using their voices and may be unaware of the therapeutic potential their voices hold.
In this self-study program, containing informational videos and several forms of experiential activities, you will deepen your understanding of the voice as an instrument and as a tool that can be used for assessing both your own well being as well as that of your clients. You will learn healthy vocal technique and increase your comfort using your voice in the different ways needed for your clinical work setting(s).
•Participants will practice several vocal activities to increase their level of comfort and skill with using their voice in personal and professional settings working with diverse client populations.
•Participants will apply a comprehensive understanding of the voice as an instrument and therapeutic tool in their unique clinical setting(s).
•Participants will identify 3 domains of functioning the voice can be used to help assess and ways to apply that information in their work with clients.
•Participants will recognize vocal health conditions that warrant outside support for themselves in order to maintain general health and well-being.
